Babies and Mosquitoes. Is there an ideal protection?

Mosquitoes continue to be a big problem as long as the temperature remains high, especially for babies and children whose skin is more sensitive.

Although their bites usually only cause itching and discomfort, there is a chance that they are infected, while in other, rare cases, they can cause an allergic reaction.

After all, it is known that mosquitoes carry infectious diseases, such as malaria and West Nile virus, which is why we need to protect our babies from their bites and faithfully follow the instructions issued by EODY every summer for safety us taking the necessary measures. Below are some easy ways to reduce the chance of mosquito bites.

1. Cover the little one's skin

Prefer long, cool clothes that cover all the baby's skin. This is a classic tip as it reduces the surface area of exposed skin and also makes it harder for mosquitoes to bite through clothing.

2. Check the window nets

Ensure all the window nets in the house are in good condition and prevent mosquitoes from entering the house.

3. Avoid strong perfumes

Prefer gentle foam baths, shampoos, and fabric softeners, which do not attract mosquitoes. Also, do not use air fresheners or candles at home so as not to attract mosquitoes.

4. Use mosquito nets

In bed or the stroller during the ride, you can use a mosquito net to keep your baby protected from mosquitoes and their annoying bites.

5. Make sure the outdoor area is in good condition

Stagnant water is where mosquitoes breed. Make sure you have a dry garden and balcony, without pools of water. Check gutters and pots for accumulated water, and if you have a pool, don't forget to clean it regularly. Also, prefer to water the plants in the morning and not in the evening, which favors the mobility of mosquitoes.

6. Keep the house cool

Keep both the house and the room where the baby sleeps cool by using a fan or air conditioner. The fan prevents mosquitoes from getting close to it, although care must be taken so that the air does not hit it directly.

7. Pay attention to the time you go for a walk

Mosquitoes are most active during the sunset and night hours. Prefer to take your baby for a walk in the early afternoon. Additionally, if rain has fallen or is very humid, it is better not to go out for a walk as the number of mosquitoes is probably going to be higher.

8. Choose the right insect repellent

Apply specialized insect-repellent products that respect your baby's sensitive skin. Make sure they are certified and dermatologically tested.
